Sartobind® membranes are macroporous, cellulose-based membranes for IEX, metal chelate, or affinity chromatography. The pore structure provides high binding capacity for large molecules at high flow rates.

Sartobind® membranes are used for the capture of large molecules in bind-and-elute mode or for polishing in flow-through mode. Due to the large pores and the immediate binding of the target substance to the ligands, diffusion time in the adsorbers is negligible.
Unlike traditional chromatography beads, there is no pore diffusion; instead, film diffusion occurs at any point within the microporous membrane structure. Under convective flow conditions, the movement of molecules in the mobile phase is driven solely by pump pressure.
For this reason, membrane adsorbers provide extremely short cycle times, exceptionally high flow rates, and high throughput performance.
