PPA HyperCel resin is an industrially scalable chromatography resin designed for protein capture and impurity removal in biopharmaceutical environments.
Its behavior is based on a mixed-mode mechanism utilizing a phenylpropylamine ligand, where protein binding results from a combination of electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between proteins and the ligand. PPA HyperCel resin provides unique selectivities that differ from those achieved with ion exchange chromatography or traditional Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC).
Features and Benefits
- High mechanical and chemical stability
- Suitable for large-scale chromatography in biopharmaceutical manufacturing
- Cross-linked cellulose-based matrix
Applications
- Protein purification at low ionic strength through direct hydrophobic capture
- Separation of challenging mixtures, such as protein isoforms or proteins with very similar isoelectric points
- Orthogonal separation mechanism relative to ion exchange chromatography or HIC
