Benefits of the Octet® R4 Protein Analysis System

Fast Results

The Octet® R4 system features four parallel, independent channels, providing greater flexibility and faster results.

High Sensitivity, Moderate Throughput, Low Cost

The Octet® R4 system is designed for customers seeking moderate-throughput sample analysis without compromising assay sensitivity.

Reduced Assay Time and Maintenance Costs

Thanks to the fluidics-free Dip and Read format, the Octet® platform delivers faster results and improved process economics compared to other technologies. In addition, compatibility with crude samples eliminates the need for sample pretreatment, saving valuable time, while non-destructive testing preserves precious samples for further analyses.

Upgradeable in a Single Visit

Choose when to upgrade to an 8-channel Octet® system for higher throughput and full GMP compliance. Upgrades are performed on-site by trained Sartorius engineers in a single visit, with no downtime or system replacement required.

Sample Plate Cooling for Temperature-Sensitive Proteins

The sample plate temperature can be controlled between 15°C and 40°C, enabling reliable kinetic determinations at different temperatures for temperature-sensitive proteins. Additional benefits include the ability to rapidly determine binding rate constants at multiple temperatures for estimating thermodynamic parameters. The four channels of the Octet® R4 system can be used independently for sample screening or simultaneously, pairing sample measurements with a dedicated reference for high-quality kinetic characterization.

Applications

Kinetic and Affinity Characterization

The Octet® R4 system monitors binding events in real time to calculate association rates (ka), dissociation rates (kd), and affinity constants (KD), eliminating the need for microfluidics by bringing the detection surface directly into contact with the sample. The sample plate temperature can be controlled between 15°C and 40°C, providing reliable kinetic determinations for temperature-sensitive proteins. Additional benefits include the ability to rapidly determine binding rate constants at multiple temperatures to estimate thermodynamic parameters.

Protein Quantification in Bioprocessing

Accurate determination of antibody and other protein concentrations is critical for cell line development and optimization of antibody production. The Octet® R4 system directly measures the presence of specific proteins and other molecules in solution with minimal interference from complex matrices, providing reproducible concentrations in as little as two minutes per sample using a simple one-step assay. The rapid turnaround time improves process efficiency and productivity, delivering advantages not easily achieved with traditional methods such as HPLC and ELISA.
