HA Ultrogel®
HA Ultrogel® hydroxyapatite is a composite material consisting of cross-linked agarose and microcrystalline hydroxyapatite embedded within an agarose matrix. The material exhibits mixed-mode functionality based on cation exchange and metal affinity interactions within the hydroxyapatite structure. It is ideal for general impurity removal.

HA Ultrogel® resin is a hydroxyapatite-agarose composite resin designed for the separation of biomolecules from research scale through manufacturing scale.
Hydroxyapatite chromatography is considered a form of “pseudo-affinity” chromatography or mixed-mode ion exchange. By providing biomolecule selectivity complementary to more traditional ion exchange (IEX) and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) techniques, it has proven to be an effective purification mechanism across a wide range of processes.
Features and Benefits
- Unique selectivity and separation mechanism complementary to conventional IEX and HIC
- Protein purification under neutral, non-denaturing conditions
- High porosity and easy cleaning
Applications
- Purification of human serum proteins
- Purification of basic proteins, phosphate-dependent proteins, enzymes, and DNA-dependent enzymes
- Vaccine purification processes, e.g., Bordetella pertussis toxin purification
- Separation of plant proteins such as lectins, glycoproteins, glycosidases, phospholipases, sulfohydrolases, sphingomyelinases, transferases, trehalases, and kinases
