BioPAT® Fundalux
- Categories: Process Analytical Technology and Data Analytics | Sensors and Analyzers |
BioPAT® Fundalux is an absorption-based photometric probe that uses infrared light to measure turbidity in bioreactors. A precisely defined and stable LED light beam passes through the process medium from both sides of the gap in the probe shaft.
Its hermetically sealed photodiode detects the attenuation of light intensity caused by the absorption of light by cellular biomass, dissolved compounds, and insoluble materials. Fixed 180° direct-beam optical path lengths (OPL) ensure maximum utilization of LED light intensity. Changes in detected light intensity result from varying degrees of absorption by materials present in the medium.
Because BioPAT® Fundalux operates according to the transmission principle in the near-infrared (NIR) range, it is not affected by color changes in the cultivation medium. As a result, the probe accurately and continuously measures total biomass concentration throughout the entire process.
